Some metals doped Praseodymium-Barium-Copper-Oxides (PBCO) show great promise as novel electrical insulators for the nanofabrication of high temperature superconductor Yttrium-Barium-Copper-Oxide (YBCO) based superconductor-insulator-superconductor (S-I-S) Josephson junction devices which may have applications in quantum computing, superconductor quantum interference devices, and terahertz frequency devices. YBCO based Josephson junctions offer many advantages over the conventional low temperature Josephson junctions in cost, cryogenic system simplicity, and high IcRn product (with Ic the junction critical current and Rn the normal resistance). Here we present our experimental results on synthesis process and electronic properties of the metals doped PBCO thin films.
